The term Netbook refers to a small-sized, low-cost, light-weight, lean function, sub-notebook. Netbooks are typically optimized for Internet access and core computing functions (e.g., word processing) - either directly from applications installed on the netbook itself or indirectly, via cloud (online) computing.
So, basically, Netbooks are small laptops that are designed for wireless communication and access to the Internet. And they're very affordable. With the advent of cheap broadband internet access, they also have the potential to become very popular, very soon. After all, why lug around a 10 pound laptop behemoth, when you can tout a sexy, small form factor, and very lightweight, Netbook (via the internet) that can do everything you need!
